Volume. Gravity. Stretch.

This series of work came from wanting to explore the properties of resin. I created this pattern by taking a mold from a plastic grating. I experimented with different variables in the curing process to create each unique piece.

Volume

This piece had the least malleable enabling me to sculpt a voluminous structure. An increase in rigidity caused a shortened work time but allowed the form to hold its shape until fully cured.

Gravity.

The first of the series, the malleability, resembled that of a wet cloth. Once hung, I found that the natural effects of gravity produced an elegant form. I then left it to finish curing in this state.

Stretch.

This sheet wasn't entirely structural when taken out of the mold. Some areas tore when removed informing the treatment of the material. Posts held the material as I actively pulled the form to its limits, seeing how far I could stretch the material down before it failed.
